Jason Mulligan is an artist from Northern Ireland.
Jason has been living and working in the U.K for the past 17 years.
He has been a practitioner of sculpture and stone carving since completing his training at the University of Northumbria

His knowledge
and understanding of stone and sculpture has been aided by the mentoring and teaching skills of artists such as
Paul Mason, Hideo Furuta and Hamish Horsley.

to his role as a stone carver's assistant for the above mentioned artists, over the past ten years he has
been involved in the carving and installation of a wide variety of Public Arts Projects throughout England, Italy and
N.Ireland. Projects include 'The Tibetan Peace Garden' London, opened in 1999 by his holiness the Dalai Lama and
'The Pavillions', Southampton.
Jason continues
to work as a stone sculptor based in Kent and is an Associate member of the 'Royal British Society of Sculptors'.
artist statement:
I am a carver of abstract geometries for whom the intimations of the landscape
and nature's essential structures are always a necessary grounding in my search for form.
My work combines a sense of growth, movement and rhythm within its structure. There is a lightness of touch
despite the literal weight of the materials.
I draw and cross hatch with chisels the linear contours and textures of
the landscape. The surface of the work suggesting the very depth of the geology that lies beneath it.
I enjoy the fact that the stone being so rigid and solid can be used to create such forms that look visually very
malleable and sensual.
These references to the organic world and nature help me express my
ideas about the expansion and lucidity of ones thoughts, memories and dreams.
